Raider Baseball Feeds RWJ-Somerset

The 2020 Hillsborough High School Raiders Baseball season was slated to be one to remember. Led by Coach Eric Eden, the team of nine seniors and eleven returning Varsity players was looking to improve on 2019's Skylands Conference Championship with a County Championship, and a run to a State Championship.  Covid-19 put those goals on hold!  But while the team was safe in their homes anxiously awaiting a call to "play ball" that never came, the staff at RWJ-Somerset was out there putting their own safety aside for the care & well-being of others.

The leadership of the Raider Diamond Club (RDC), the fully volunteer-driven organization supporting the needs of the Raiders Baseball Program, got to thinking...how could it support the staff at RWJ-Somerset and help some of the local businesses that have been so generous to the baseball program? The response was to donate funds to local businesses and pay for meals to be provided to RWJ-Somerset over the course of five (5) weeks.

In this 5 week period, Moe's of Hillsborough, iHOP of Hillsborough, Bagel Bistro and JustSubs have provided well over 250 meals to the heroes at RWJ-Somerset, with special delivery by players from the baseball program.

So while the baseball field remains empty and quiet, the members of the 2020 Raiders Baseball program learned that they'll be remembered for their actions off the field instead.
