The Engineering Department would like to inform the public that they are applying for the NJDOT Local Aid Grant for the repaving of Phase 2 of Amsterdam Drive. This section is from Vliet Drive to Murphy Drive. If awarded, Phase 2 will be completed next year.
Phase 1 of Amsterdam Drive, from Millstone River Road to Vliet Drive, was granted to the Township late last year and our engineering consultant just completed the survey and plans to be submitted to the NJDOT for their approval. Once we receive the final NJDOT signoff, the Engineering Department will bid the project and repave Phase 1 sometime in the fall.
The Engineering Department also plans to push for additional grant funding from NJDOT next year for Phase 3, from Murphy Drive to Amwell Road. This will complete the entire repaving of Amsterdam Drive, mainly with NJDOT grant money saving Hillsborough residents tax dollars. Dividing the project into three phases maximizes the amount of grant money the Township can receive.
