Hillsborough Township Announces Flags for Heroes Initiative

Hillsborough Township will be transforming the front lawn of the Municipal Complex into a Field of Honor for Veteran’s Day as part of the Flags for Heroes initiative. The Rotary Club of Hillsborough is offering Township residents the opportunity to honor their favorite vets with flags as a way to commemorate their sacrifice and heroism.

"I am always proud of how Hillsborough Township and Rotary continue to honor our Vets. This will be a wonderful Patriotic display in honor of our heroes," announced Mayor Shawn Lipani at the October 12th Township Committee Meeting.

Residents who wish to sponsor flags for the veterans in their lives can do so for fifty dollars each. The 3’ x 5’ flags hang on 10-foot poles and will be on display on the corner of South Branch Road and Beekman Lane from November 6th through November 20th.

The Flags for Heroes initiative is a fundraiser with a portion of the proceeds being donated to Hillsborough Township veterans.

“The Flags for Heroes tributes countrywide are important. To these men and women who went into harm’s way to assist others, we owe a great debt of Gratitude,” Tom Cillilli, Jr., VFW Post Commander, VFW District 15 Trustee.

The Flags for Heroes initiative is an amazing way to honor our local heroes,” added Deputy Mayor and Veterans Liaison Frank DelCore. He added, “I am very confident that with the way that our Hillsborough community supports our Veterans, that our municipal complex will be filled with flags in honor of our incredible local veterans.  We are very proud to help support this community event and offer our sincere thanks to Hillsborough Rotary for their work on this program."

"My grandfather was a WWII Navy veteran,” commented Michele Kidd, a member of the Rotary Club of Hillsborough leading this effort together with the Township.  “He inspired me with his love of our country and the veterans who made our country possible.”

The quantity of displayed flags is limited. Reserve your flag dedication by October 28, 2021, as supply lasts. Click here to sponsor a veteran.
