Holiday Festivities Announced

The Recreation Department has some really fun holiday programs that everyone can enjoy!

Hillsborough Township will kick off the Holiday Season on Friday, December 3rd with the annual lighting of the Township Christmas Tree.  Festivities begin at 6 pm.  Come see your favorite Holiday Characters, have some hot cocoa & cookies (while supplies last) & watch Santa Light the Tree. Santa will arrive shortly after 7 PM.

Also on December 3rd at 7 pm is the 2021 Shabbat Chanukah Service and Township Menorah Lighting at Temple Beth-El.  This will take place in the sanctuary or via zoom. Have your family’s favorite chanukiah and seven candles ready.

Santa's Mailbox is back!  Beginning on Monday, November 22nd, and each night leading up to Christmas, Santa will send one of his elves to stop by his special mailbox to pick up each child's letter so Santa can start working on all the presents!  Hillsborough Recreation Department will have sample letters out next to the mailbox as well as on their website for you to print.  Do you want Santa to write you back? Make sure your letter is in his mailbox by Friday, December 10th and you'll receive a response from Santa himself!  No postage is necessary!

The Recreation Department is hosting a Pajama Drive to benefit the Pajama Program and local families in need.  We will be collecting NEW sets of pajamas beginning on December 3rd thru December 10th.  Donations can be brought to our Tree Lighting event on Friday, December 3rd or they can be placed in the donation box that will be located in the hallway leading to the library.  All sizes are welcome from infants to adults.

In addition to our Pajama Drive, the Recreation Department is also hosting a Winter Movie Night at the Hillsborough Township Complex on December 10th.  We will be showing Elf and the admission fee is one (1) set of NEW pajamas per child.  Pre-registration online via the recreation website is required as space is limited.

Finally, we are excited to announce that the "Home for the Holidays" House decorating contest is back!  Do you love to decorate your yard or home for the holidays?  Can you justify the increase in your electric bill to bring smiles to your neighbors' faces?

You can do all of that PLUS get a chance to win amazing prizes as well as township wide bragging rights for having "The Best Decorated House in Hillsborough".  If you would like to take part in our contest please submit a picture of your yard or home's exterior (window displays are fine as long as you can see them from the street), your name, and your street address to recreation@hillsborough-nj.org.  Sit back and watch as your fellow residents enjoy your decorations from the safety of their vehicles.  Email submissions are due by Sunday, December 5th.  Voting will take place from December 6th through the 19th and the winners will be announced on Monday, December 20th.
