Stigma Free: Upcoming Events

Hillsborough Township has been designated as a Stigma-Free Community.  The Stigma-Free initiative helps raise awareness surrounding mental health and strives to create an environment where individuals feel free to seek support to enhance their mental health, without fear of being stigmatized.  

According to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), 1 in 5 people in any given year are living with a diagnosable mental health condition.  Furthermore, according to NIDA (National Institute on Drug Abuse), 23 million Americans have a substance use disorder with only 25% receiving treatment.  Despite these staggering numbers, there remains a high rate of shame associated with mental health treatment, education, substance use, overdose, and suicide.

Upcoming events/news in our community:  

Question.Persuade.Refer (QPR) Training - This virtual training being held on April 6th is FREE to anyone 18+ years old who is interested in learning suicide prevention techniques.  The QPR's mission is to reduce suicidal behaviors and save lives by providing proven suicide prevention training. 

BoroSafe T-shirts

Congratulations to Emma Newman for creating the winning design for the 14-and-under category and Greg Andreski for the winning design in the 15-and-over category.  T-shirts are now for sale to fundraise for BoroSafe’s future endeavors.  You can order as many shirts as you want and any combination of the designs.  Scan the QR code to access the purchase form and payment information.
