April is National Volunteer Month

April is National Volunteer month and is dedicated to honoring volunteers as well as encouraging volunteerism. Hillsborough Township Social Services Department volunteers are part of the glue that holds our community together, especially for neighbors experiencing food insecurity

Volunteers are a critical part of the Hillsborough Community Assistance Network (C.A.N.), the food pantry housed in the Social Services Department that services Hillsborough residents. Volunteers help by checking expiration dates, sorting groceries, preparing groceries for clients, and inventory control. These hardworking volunteers collectively dedicated over 1,000 hours of service to C.A.N. in 2022, and 300 hours already this year.

If you are looking to give back to our community, please consider volunteering with the C.A.N. Donating your time, talent, or treasure can make you feel fulfilled, helps to build the community, and could be a fun new experience.
