Fishing Line Collection Tube Installed at Ann Van Middlesworth Park
Fishing is a very popular activity at Ann Van Middlesworth Park in Hillsborough. However, when scrap fishing line, hooks and other gear are left behind, the fishing line can entangle birds, turtles, fish, and other animals, with often lethal results.
The Hillsborough Bird club has partnered with Hillsborough Township to build and install 3 fishing line collection tubes around the pond at Ann Van Middlesworth Park. Scrap fishing line placed into these tubes will be sent to Berkley Fishing® so it can be recycled.
By placing used fishing line into these tubes, you will save the lives of many birds and animals, and will also help keep the park cleaner for everyone to enjoy. Financial support for these tubes was provided by a Thrivent® Action Team grant, the Hillsborough Bird Club, and Vicki Schwartz and Dr. Kenneth Snyder.
