Hillsborough Township Announces Fourth Annual Scarecrow Festival
Residents, organizations, youth groups, and businesses are invited to participate
“Hillsborough Township is pleased to announce the fourth annual Scarecrow Festival will once again take place this fall,” announced Deputy Mayor John Ciccarelli. at the August 13th Township Committee meeting. “Registration for this fun, interactive event opens Friday, August 17th. Beginning September 29th, Scarecrows will maintain vigilance on the grounds of the Hillsborough Municipal Complex.”
All Township residents, businesses, organizations, classrooms, and sports teams are invited to start planning. Over the past three years, more than 40 scarecrows lined “Scarecrow Lane” along the Municipal Complex's rain garden, and organizers hope to see even more crows aloft in 2024.
This annual fall event has grown in popularity since its inception in 2021. In previous years, creative, handcrafted crows stood watch over the Municipal Building, including pirate crows, police crows, Barbie, Rapunzel, Minions, storybook characters, Swifties, and traditional scarecrows.
Beginning August 17th, interested parties can register by filling out the form located on the Hillsborough Township website, Facebook page, Mayor’s eNews, and Experience Hillsborough Newsletters. A registration link will also be sent to Hillsborough businesses through the HBA newsletter. Local businesses and organizations are encouraged to use this unique opportunity to forge new relationships.
Residents can vote on their favorite scarecrows throughout October via QR codes located throughout the area or via a form on the Township website.
The scarecrows will be displayed throughout October and winners will be announced on November 1st.
