Hillsborough Township Committee Selected for NJMMA Elected Officials Award

Committee honored for professional government management and career development of its municipal staff

Hillsborough’s Township Committee has been honored with the New Jersey Municipal Management Association’s (NJMMA) Elected Official Award.

The NJMMA Elected Official Award focuses on one governing body in the State of New Jersey that has consistently supported professional government management and career development of municipal staff.

“The Hillsborough Township Committee is a worthy recipient of this year’s award.  Through their Hillsborough Leadership Program as well as their support of cross-training efforts for staff, and their investment in trainers and workshops all point to the many ways the Hillsborough Township Committee represents consistent support of their management and the development of their careers,” said Kathryn Monzo, President of the NJMMA and Business Administrator for the Township of Hamilton.

“The Hillsborough Township Committee has demonstrated exceptional commitment and initiative in fostering the growth and advancement of its employees through innovative programs and comprehensive training efforts,” added Hillsborough Township Administrator Anthony Ferrera.

Programs include the Hillsborough Leadership Program (HLP), the Hillsborough Employee Activities Recognition Team (H.E.A.R.T), Employee of the Month, and High Five peer recognition programs, and a floater program designed to provide essential coverage while supporting the introduction or reintroduction of individuals into the workforce on a part-time basis.

The Hillsborough Township Committee's dedication to professional development has profoundly impacted employee morale and productivity. This supportive environment has increased job satisfaction, higher retention rates, and a more dynamic and capable workforce.

“The Hillsborough Township Committee has been instrumental in supporting the implementation of programs designed to help staff grow professionally and exceed expectations,” said Mayor Robert Britting, Jr. “It’s gratifying to watch careers develop over time and an honor to receive this award.”

The Hillsborough Township Committee will be honored at the annual awards luncheon in Atlantic City, held at the Sheraton Hotel in Crown Ballrooms 1 and 2 on Wednesday, 11/20, at noon.
