Hillsborough Township Mayor Robert Britting, Jr. and Assemblyman Roy Freiman Address Drone Activity Over Somerset County
Hillsborough, New Jersey – Recent reports of drones flying over Somerset County have raised concerns among residents regarding safety, privacy, and the potential purposes of these unmanned aerial systems (UAS). Hillsborough Township and local Assembly offices are actively working collaboratively to address the situation and ensure transparency while maintaining public safety.
“Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our residents,” said Assemblyman Freiman. “We take these reports seriously because these drones are obviously not a child’s holiday toy. We will continue to coordinate with local, state, and federal authorities to investigate, and identify the source of the drone activity.”
Mayor Robert Britting has spoken directly with Governor Phil Murphy and his staff, who assured him that state officials are actively investigating the matter to ensure the safety and security of all residents. “Safety is the priority. We want to assure our community based on the press release from Somerset and Morris County, that there is no cause for alarm at this moment,” said Mayor Britting. “However, it is important for everyone to report any suspicious drone activity to the FBI so that authorities can track and address this issue appropriately.”
The public is urged to remain calm and report any sightings to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), which is leading the investigation into the matter. Residents who witness drone activity should call the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit it online at https://tips.fbi.gov/. Videos related to the sightings can also be uploaded directly through the online portal. Your assistance is vital in addressing this matter.
Hillsborough Township, Mayor Britting, and Assemblyman Freiman will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available. In the meantime, residents are encouraged to stay informed and take necessary precautions if they observe any unusual drone activity.
